The DESY group "Information Technology" (IT) is leading a variety of national and European projects and initiatives, evaluating new and innovative IT technologies. One of those is the Helmholtz lmaging Platform (HIP), an innovative approach to systematically support and further develop imaging processes and methods of analysis within the Helmholtz Association. To strengthen our team at DESY in Hamburg, we are looking for a scientist with experience in Deep Learning for scientific image analysis.

About the role:

  • Together with your colleagues, you will develop novel deep learning architectures for scientific image analysis
  • You will apply CNNs to 3D electron tomography data
  • You will adapt algorithms to detect and classify small objects in noisy data
  • You will make our algorithms availble to biologists for real world usage

Limited: 2 years

To be successful in this role:

  • You have completed a University degree in life science, computer science, physics or equivalent
  • You have a good knowledge in the areas of artificial intelligence,machine learning and imaging methods
  • Experience in imaging, deep learning, the application of convolutional neural networks and in object classification is beneficial
  • You are fluent in at least one modern programming languages
  • You have a good spoken and written command of the English language
  • You are a team player with good communication skill
