The group MSK is responsible for real-time data analysis and fast-feedback controls of beam stabilisation systems, radiofrequency cavity control, special diagnostics and precision synchronisation of particle accelerators at DESY. We are an international team of technicians, engineers and scientists who develop, install and operate complex instruments and embedded systems for the EuXFEL, FLASH and at PETRA.

About your role:

Programmable logic and embedded software development using VHDL, Tcl and C/C++ with Vivado and Vitis tools from AMD (Xilinx) and Yocto project; targeting FPGA, SoC and MPSoC devices with 7-Series, UltraScale(+) and Versal architectures for low-latency digital signal processing to control accelerators at DESY
Pin planning and commissioning of new hardware and preparation of post-production test firmware and software
Implementation and integration of new tool chains and techniques in our embedded software and firmware framework FWK
Analysis, design, verification, documentation, and maintenance of embedded software and firmware
Support accelerator operation regarding embedded software and firmware projects

About you:

MSc or PhD degree in electronics engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, or similar education
Several years of embedded system engineering experience with FPGAs, SoCs, MPSoCs from AMD (Xilinx) using Vivado, Vivado HLS, Vitis tools, and Yocto project
Very good knowledge of C/C++, VHDL, SystemRDL, Tcl, Python, MATLAB
Very good knowledge of real-time operating systems and Linux
Very good knowledge of the MicroTCA standard
Good knowledge of digital signal processing and control theory and high-performance implementation on FPGAs
Good knowledge of real-time multi-axis motion control
Good ability to work in a team
Very good English skills
