Electrical engineer for technical systems

The electronics group at DESY in Zeuthen develops and supports specialised electronics for experiments in the fields of accelerator, astroparticle and particle physics. These electronics are used to control telescopes or other research infrastructure and to record and process research data at experiments worldwide, such as the CTA project or the Photoinjector Test Stand (PITZ) in Zeuthen.

About your role:

  • Participation in the development and commissioning of complex electronic systems and large-scale facilities for the CTA MST project and astroparticle physics
  • Installation, commissioning and support of the CTA MST telescopes on site in Chile and La Palma
  • Technical support of research infrastructure for CTA and DESY
  • Documentation of complex electronic systems with EPLAN
  • Documentation, publication and presentation of work results

About you:

  • Completed scientific university degree in electrical engineering or physics or equivalent specialised knowledge, skills and experience
  • Sound expertise in automation technology, control engineering and electromechanics
  • Experience in programming SPS / PLCs and in working with ECAD systems (EPLAN)
  • Willingness to travel to the installation sites of the large-scale scientific facilities of the CTA project
  • Expertise and experience in the field of air conditioning technology are an advantage
  • Ability to work in a team in an international environment and external project partners
  • Very good written and spoken English and German, knowledge of Spanish is an advantage
